As told by JONI MCCARTY
Good morning! We’re Casey and Joni McCarty, the “Agricultural Curators” of Homestead Manor’s Farm.
What is an Agricultural Curator? Quite simply, we are the gardeners. But also farmers. And soil conservationists. And historians.
Our goal is to grow the fruits and vegetables that will be served in the restaurant and at events, while at the same time keeping the historical significance of this beautiful land intact.
Every action we take, we first ask ourselves three questions:
1) Will this act enhance and beautify the land?
2) Will this act be sustainable for the years ahead?
3) Will this act provide something greater for the generations after us?
With these three questions in mind, we choose to maintain organic and natural processes to grow the fruits and vegetables that will be served at the restaurant’s table.
Sounds easy, doesn’t it? At first glance, you may think so. But there is much more to this story… MUCH more.
Please join us over the coming days as we share our journey through our upcoming blog posts. We’d love to have you come along and learn with us as we love on this land at Homestead Manor!
