As told by CLAIRE MARSHALL CROWELL [RAISED BY THE FORK]
Today is the day. The day that we have been all been hurry-up-and-waiting for. The day I have lost countless hours of sleep over.
Drum roll please… Harvest at Homestead is OPEN and boy oh boy are we ready to serve you! We did some live training with friends and family this past weekend, and it was so fun to see everyone finally in action. This is the kind of stress that I thrive on, not all that sit around and wait stuff. I want to see steaks on the Argentinian grill, fresh bread coming off the italian pizza oven (that we had to add an extra door for to get it in the building), Chef Carlos inspecting and delicately dressing each plate before sending it off in the hands of eager servers and food runners.
I love listening to our staff proudly telling young Alice Thompson’s story of running out onto the battlefield during the Civil War, talking about how they have spent time with their hands in the dirt on the farm to bring the produce on the plates to life. There is so much passion in this project from so many people, it’s truly humbling and amazing to see the vision coming to life.
We are making everything from scratch and sourcing the majority of ingredients locally. Major thank you to our community partners – Bear Creek Farms, Delvin Farms, Allenbrooke Farms, Hatcher Family Dairy, Willow Farms, Muletown Coffee, Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese, and City Farmhouse (so sorry if I left someone out, I still love and thank you!). And major, MAJOR props to our amazing team at Homestead who have all been a true joy to work with. Please come say hi to these amazing people and let us serve you. We are open Tuesday through Sunday for both lunch and dinner. Reservations are not required but certainly encouraged, and they can be made via OpenTable or by calling 615-538-6113. We are open today through Sunday for a soft opening, and our grand opening on July 12th and ribbon cutting is scheduled for next Tuesday, July 7th at 11:00am.
See you soon!
