Etiquette

How RUDE! Eight out of ten Americans say a lack of courtesy is a serious problem for society. Nearly half of us have walked out of a store in the past year because of bad service. 66% of Americans say they are bothered “a lot” by reckless drivers. 56% are annoyed by people who use vulgar language in public. 41% said they themselves have behaved disrespectfully.  Americans may be making some strides in civility; however, most say Americans are more polite to minorities and people with disabilities than they use to be.

Certified by The Protocol School of Washington in Tea and Etiquette, Marcia Franks will conduct etiquette classes for children and adults. Children’s etiquette classes can be used for great birthday parties. Some themes include:

Teddy Bear Tea and Etiquette
Tea and Etiquette with Alice in Wonderland
Princess Tea and Etiquette
American Girl Tea and Etiquette

Other Tea and Etiquette programs will be for adults and children alike, such as:

Tea and Etiquette
Afternoon Tea and Etiquette
Victorian Teas and Etiquette
Seasonal Tea and Etiquette
Holiday Tea and Etiquette

Business Etiquette classes are available because in today’s global market, good manners are a business necessity. Dorthea Johnson, founder of The Protocol School of Washington, says, “More business deals are done at the dining room table than the boardroom table. They may not sign the dotted line, but you can bet the decisions are made there.” Civility includes cell phone etiquette, email etiquette, making an entrance and working the room, handshaking, introductions, eye contact, and remembering names.

Just in time for our Valentine’s Candle Light Dinners, Friday, February 12, and Saturday, February 13, Marcia Franks has planned Valentine Tea and Etiquette, Saturday, February 6, 2010. The two hour class, 8:30-10:30, is priced $70 and includes all materials, tea and a 10% discount in our Gift Shop. Reservations for the Valentine Tea and Etiquette are due by Saturday, January 30. Reservations and questions may be made by contacting Bryana at Homestead Manor Plantation (615) 790-2309.
